CODE OF CONDUCT

The following sets out the way in which the Management team of United Chelmsford Churches FC expects its players to conduct themselves on and off the field of play when representing the club. We see it as a form of mutual agreement.

These are not strict rules but guidelines and parameters in which each player is able to express his own particular character, style of play and sense of enjoyment. Our aim is to maintain as well as continue to develop a family club atmosphere where the Christian ethos and direction is honoured and everyone is welcome and feels “at home”. It is, however, important to stress that failure to conduct oneself within the spirit and manner outlined will mean taking suitable action where necessary.

1. Players will be expected to behave and play within the spirit of the laws of the game, showing a sporting attitude at all times. This includes:

a. No deliberate foul play or play acting

b. No "revenge tackles" whatever the provocation

c. No deliberate pulling of an opponent's shirt

d. No deliberate handball

e. No diving or feigning injury

f. Players should retreat 10 yards immediately at free kicks

g. No obvious wrong appealing

In summary, we encourage all players to play hard but fair and to adopt a policy of      honesty and integrity with both referees and opponents.

2. Team unity is vital. Contention with management or team-mates is not tolerated. However real differences of opinion will be heard by the Management team and attempts made to resolve them. Talk positively at all times to build up team spirit.

3. Dissent towards Referees or attempting to incite or argue with the opposition is not acceptable.

4. We ask club members not to swear whilst on club duty.

5. Players are asked not to drink alcohol or smoke before, during or after a match, until we get to the pub or clubhouse.

6. Players will be punctual and arrive at the venue by the time stated by the Manager.

7. Signing-on fees should be paid upon signing, or within 1 month if this causes problems. All match fees must be paid promptly.

8. All players must sign the relevant registration form (i.e. The Mid-Essex Football League Form of Registration). No registered player can play for another club in the Mid-Essex League without a transfer.
